Risk area

Here is a list of all risk areas around the world. The information is provided by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Europeiska's risk assessors, and is constantly updated.

Private travellers please note that we do not sell insurance cover for countries and areas on the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' 'do not travel to' warning list.

Algeria

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Saleh in Algeria. The rest of Algeria is regarded as a risk area.

Azerbadzjan

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the Armenian occupied adjacent areas of Azerbaijan.

Burundi

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to some areas in Burundi.

Chad

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Chad.

Eritrea

Due to the security situation, Swedish Foreign Ministry and ERVs risk analyst advise against travel to the Eritrean border areas with Ethiopia and Djibouti, within 20 kilometers of the border.

ERV's risk analysts also regard the border to Sudan as a risk area.

Ethiopia

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to and through the borders (10 kilometers) to Ethiopia, Somalia (including Somaliland), Kenya and Sudan.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advise against all travel to Somali Region in Ethiopia,  and to the northern Danakli area/Afar region and Gambella.

 ERV's risk analysts also advise against travelling to Djibouti and the Danakli desert.

Georgia

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and an area of 25 km from the border to these areas.

ERV's risk analysts also regard the border to Russia (to a depth of 25 km) as a risk area.

Haiti

Due to the security situation, Europeiska’s risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Haiti.

India

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Jammu and Kashmir in India.
ERV's risk analysts also advise against travel in an area of 100 km from the border with Pakistan.

Iraq

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Iraq.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not advise against travel to the Kurdish provinces of Dohuk, Erbil and Suleimaniye. However, ERV's risk analysts regard the border with the Kurdish areas as risk areas.

Israel

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ERV's risk analysts are advising against all travel to Gaza neighborhood in Israel, up to a distance of 10 km from Gaza.

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts also regard the West Bank, Jerusalem, the borders of the Gaza Strip and West Bank and the border of Egypt, Lebanon and Syria as risk areas.

Kenya

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ERV's risk analysts are advising against all travel to parts of Kenya.

Kyrgyzstan

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Osj and Jalal-Abad in south Kyrgyzstan.

ERv's risk analysts also regard Batken as a risk area.

Lebanon

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Tripoli area, Palestinian refugee camps, northern Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon south of the Litani River.

Libya

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against non-essential travel to Tripoli and all travel to rest of country.

ERV's riskanalytics consider Tripoli as a risk area and the rest of country as a high risk area.

Nigeria

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers including Part Harcourt,Yobe and Borno.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advise against travel to Plateau, Bauchi, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, Adamawa och Taraba and Imo.

ERV's riskanalytics advise against travel to Lages, Ondo and the border area of Niger.

Pakistan

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Pakistan and all travels to: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistans Tribal Areas (FATA) and the Baluchistan province.

Peru

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts regard Cuzcu, Ayacucho, the areas around Ene, Apurimac and Huallaga River and the Colombian border district as risk areas.

Philippines

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago.

ERV's risk analysts also advise against travel to Jolo.

Russia

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to the Russian republics Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan and North Ossetia.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advise against travel to other parts of the northern Caucasus, ie Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria (including Elbrus) and eastern and southern parts of the Stavropolskij Kraj region.

Sudan

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are advising against all travel to Sudan except for Khartoum. ERV's risk analysts especially advise against travels to Darfur, south Kordofan and the border region between North and South Sudan.

Thailand

Due to the security situation, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is advising against all travel to the four provinces Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani and Songkhla. ERV's risk analysts also regard Burma and Cambodia as risk areas.

Turkey

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts regard the provinces bordering on Iran and Iraq (Van, Hakkâri och Sirnak) and the south east provinces Tuncelli, Bingöl and Diyarbakir as risk areas.

Uganda

Due to the security situation, ERV's risk analysts advise against travel to the north-eastern districts Kapchorwa, Katakwi, Kotido, Moroto, Nakapiripir and the border with The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sudan.

The rest of the northern district and the Nile district is also regarded as risk areas.
