High-risk activities

Here are the answers to the most common questions about what activities are covered by your travel insurance. 

Are there any activities not covered under the terms of my insurance policy?

Which activities are covered depends on your insurance policy. If, for example, you want to ski off-piste, climb mountains or freedive, you must have separate cover for extreme sports. The following list shows which activities are regarded as high-risk, and the cover you need. (The exemptions apply to private individuals).

Climbing Wall climbing using an expansion-bolted beginners’ wall, supervised by an instructor. Ice climbing. Wall climbing without an authorised instructor present.
Bungee Jump Controlled bungee jumping supervised by an authorised organiser.  
Skiing Skiing in piste area. Off-piste skiing in the company of an authorised guide. Heli-skiing without an authorised guide. Off-piste skiing without an authorised guide. Para-skiing.
Diving Diving by certificate holders or in the company of an authorised instructor, to a maximum depth of 30 meters. Freediving, deep-sea diving to depths of more than 30 meters.
White-water rafting Grade 1-2 white-water rafting in the company of an authorised guide. Grade 3-6 white-water rafting. All white-water rafting without an authorised guide.
Paragliding Behind a boat. All other forms of paragliding.
Sailing Sailing trips with less than 72 hours spent on the open sea. Single-handed sailing. Long-distance sailing (more than 72 hours on the open sea).
Hiking At elevations below 3,600 meters. At elevations above 3,600 meters.
Trekking In the company of an authorised guide. Without an authorised guide.
