Iceland is relatively safe to visit. Crime levels are low, but there is still some risk of pickpockets, bag-snatchers and assault, particularly in the evenings and at night in the vicinity of bars and restaurants.
There is some risk of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
If you stay close to lakes and waterways in summer, we recommend that you carry mosquito repellent etc. with you, since mosquitoes can be a real problem.
The tap water is completely safe to drink.
