Antigua and Barbuda is located in the eastern Caribbean comprising of the islands of Antigua, Barbuda and a number of smaller islands, located in the centre of the Leeward Islands. Antigua and Barbuda gained formal independence from the UK in 1981.

Travellers are advised to consult a travel health specialist or general practitioner (GP) to obtain the latest information with regards to what vaccines are recommended about 4-8 weeks prior to departing for Antigua & Barbuda. Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip. The following vaccinations are recommended: measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, polio and influenza. Travellers might also consider the vaccinations for Hepatitis B and rabies, according to the specifics of their travel.
There is a risk of ongoing Chikungunya, Dengue and Zika virus transmission in Antigua & Barbuda. Travellers should take meticulous anti-mosquito bite measures during the daytime. Pregnant women and those considering becoming pregnant should avoid travel to the country.
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is only required from travellers coming from a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission.
There is risk of African Tick-Bite fever present in Antigua & Barbuda. Travellers who participate in outdoor activities in rural regions of endemic areas should take measures to prevent tick bites.
Travellers should be aware of the risks associated with travellers’ ailments such as diarrhoea. Travellers must take all necessary precautions when drinking water or eating food within the country and only drink water from sealed bottles obtained from a reputable source or water that has been filtered and boiled.
It is advisable to bring anti-diarrhoea medication and oral rehydration salts to prevent dehydration.
You should obtain comprehensive medical insurance before travelling to Antigua and Barbuda. Medical facilities are sufficient to deal with most medical problems; however, some serious afflictions may require evacuation to San Juan, Puerto Rico, or Miami. There is no hyperbaric chamber; divers requiring treatment for decompression illness must be evacuated, to either Saba or Guadeloupe. Doctors generally expect payment, regardless of whether you are insured or not. Most pharmaceuticals are available.

Travellers must carry a passport valid for at least six months.
Visum
Most travellers will not require a visa to enter Antigua and Barbuda. However, if you are intending to work or do business, or if you are otherwise unsure of visa requirements, you should confirm them with your nearest Antigua and Barbuda embassy.
Immigration officials will often request to see a return ticket or ticket for onward travel, as well as proof of sufficient funds to cover the cost of the visitor’s intended stay. There is a departure tax payable when departing the country. Travellers are warned that local immigration has a reputation for strictness regarding immigration forms.
If you are arriving from a country with yellow fever, you will need to show proof that you have been vaccinated.
