Bermuda

Bermuda is a UK overseas territory located in the North Atlantic Ocean off of the eastern coast of the US state of Florida. Bermuda has an estimated population of just under 70,000 people and is an isolated territory relying heavily on finance and tourism for its GDP.

Travellers are advised to consult a travel health specialist or general practitioner (GP) to obtain the latest information with regards to what vaccines are recommended about 4-8 weeks prior to departing for Bermuda. Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip. The following vaccinations are recommended: measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, polio and influenza. Travellers might also consider the vaccinations for Hepatitis B and rabies, according to the specifics of their travel.

There is risk of ongoing Dengue transmission in Bermuda. Insect protection measures are essential.

Rabies can be found in bats in Bermuda. However, it is not a major risk to most travellers. Vaccine is recommended for travellers involved in outdoor and other activities in remote areas and people who will be working with or around bats.

While the number of hospitals and medical centers in Bermuda are limited due to the island size, the quality of medical services are considered to be very good.

There is a well-equipped public hospital called the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Paget Parish, near Hamilton. Medical centres are also available in different towns. Some health issues may not be possible to treat in the country, so treatment may be referred to a medical facility in the US.

A medical or travel insurance is highly recommended. There is a possibility for the traveller to pay medical bills either in cash or credit card and then submit the receipt to the insurance company.

Pass

Passports must be valid for 45 days beyond intended length of stay and there must be both proof of return, accommodation and economic means to support oneself while in Bermuda.

Visum

Nationals from the US, the UK, Canada, the EU and other nationalities do not require a visa for up to 90 days of stay.

Other countries may require a multiple-entry visa to transit through the United Kingdom, the United States or Canada (only places to offer flights to Bermuda), since Bermuda does not issue its own visas.
