Brittiska Jungfruöarna
Översikt
The British Virgin Islands is a UK-administered overseas territory located east of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean Sea comprising more than 40 Caribbean islands and islets. The territory of the Virgin Islands is divided between the British and US Virgin Islands. The British Virgin Islands became autonomous from the colonial UK in 1967. Its economy is dominated by tourism and offshore finance, with financial and business services accounting for nearly half of the islands' GDP.
Hälsa, sjukdomar och vaccination
Travellers are advised to consult a travel health specialist or general practitioner (GP) to obtain the latest information with regards to what vaccines are recommended about 4-8 weeks prior to departing for British Virgin Islands. Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip. The following vaccinations are recommended: measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, polio and influenza. Travellers might also consider the vaccinations for Hepatitis B and rabies, according to the specifics of their travel.
There is only one hospital in the BVI and medical facilities are limited. Therefore complex medical problems are transferred to hospitals in the US Virgin Islands (for decompression treatments), Puerto Rico (more sensitive cases) or the the mainland USA.
Because the US visa waiver scheme does not apply to one-off charter flights, special arrangements have to be made for patients not holding US visas who have to be evacuated by charter flights.

Every visitor to the British Virgin Islands (hereafter BVI) must have a passport with at least six months validity on it.
