Hälsa, sjukdomar och vaccination
Travellers are advised to consult a travel health specialist or general practitioner (GP) to obtain the latest information with regards to what vaccines are recommended about 4-8 weeks prior to departing for Cook Islands. Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip. The following vaccinations are recommended: measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, polio and influenza. Travellers might also consider the vaccinations for Hepatitis B and rabies, according to the specifics of their travel.
There is an ongoing risk of Chikungunya and Dengue transmission in Cook Islands. Insect protection measures should be used.
Typhoid fever vaccination is recommended when going outside the areas usually visited by tourists such as traveling extensively in the interior of the country, for persons on working assignments in remote areas, or travellers visiting for extended periods of time.
Medical facilities in the Cook Islands are limited, especially in outer islands, and evacuation often is required in serious cases. Treatment may be expensive and patients may be required to pay in advance. Medical evacuation, required in case of serious illness or major accident, to New Zealand or Australia could be very expensive, if flights are full and chartering a flight is necessary. Travellers are strongly advised to obtain a comprehensive medical insurance before travelling to Cook Islands. Travellers should not eat snappers, as they may give them ciguatera, a marine-borne illness akin to food poisoning.
Pass
Travellers’ passport has to be valid for at least six months beyond the date of their expected departure from the country. An onward or return ticket, proof of sufficient funds and proof of accommodations are also necessary.

Currently visas are not required for visits that last less than 31 days, however the entry requirements (visa, currency, customs and quarantine regulations) change regularly and the travellers should contact the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation, P.O.
