Jemen
Översikt
Political instability following prolonged anti-government protests in 2011 has heightened Yemen’s already-fragile security environment. The country faces severe social and economic challenges which have a major impact on its security. A pro-autonomy Houthi rebellion in the north, a strong secessionist movement in the south and a nationwide threat of terrorism is compounded by high levels of poverty, the depletion of resources, a weak security apparatus, widespread corruption and political dysfunction. An attempted Houthi takeover of the state since September 2014 has severely undermined security in Yemen, resulting in a Saudi-led coalition launching airstrikes against the group, triggering a civil war across the country. Yemen's risk profile is therefore considered high and all travel is advised against. Cities that have been witnessing regular clashes include Sana'a, Taiz, Aden, Hodeidah, Dhalea and Marib.
