The Cocos Islands is a nation of two inhabited islands and several other uninhabited islands located in the Indian Ocean. It is a territory of Australia with a population of approximately 600.
Hälsa, sjukdomar och vaccination
Travellers are advised to consult a travel health specialist or general practitioner (GP) to obtain the latest information with regards to what vaccines are recommended about 4-8 weeks prior to departing for Cocos Island. Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip. The following vaccinations are recommended: measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, polio and influenza.
Appointments are necessary in case someone wants to see a doctor.
Pass
Apart from Australian citizens who can travel to Cocos Islands with any form of photographic identification, all the other visitors need to have a valid passport. In addition, they should have either a visa or an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) which can be obtained from a travel agent or from an airline company. Travellers holding an ETA are able to stay in the country for a period up to three months.
Visum
There are neither embassies of any countries in Cocos Islands nor embassies of the Cocos Islands abroad. For any issues regarding consular assistance, visitors should contact the Australian Authorities.
Cocos Islands or also known as Keeling Islands constitute a part of the Australian Indian Ocean Territory. A non-resident Administrator who represents the Attorney General’s Department has been allocated by the Governor General of Australia. As a result, the Cocos Islands are under the protection responsibility and under the governmental control of Australia.
