Mayotte
Översikt
The tiny eastern Indian Ocean island of Mayotte has enjoyed relative peace over the last half-century. The decision of the islanders to remain in union with France means that Mayotte enjoys the protection of the French armed forces. The island also has much higher living standards than many of its neighbours, exemplified by the use of the Euro. The archipelago is often exposed to the risk of drought that may result in shortages of fuel, food and water.
