Singapore has negligible threats concerning violent external and internal conflict. The country is politically stable with low unemployment and is considered to be the international economic hub of Southeast Asia, with close ties with many countries across the world. Singapore is the fourth wealthiest country in the world in terms of GDP per capita and according to the Economist Intelligence Unit has the best quality of life in Asia. Recently, authorities in Indonesia said they had uncovered plan to attack the Marina Bay with rocket fired from Batam. In response, Singapore said it will step up security measures to counter the threat.
Hälsa, sjukdomar och vaccination
Travellers are advised to consult a travel health specialist or general practitioner (GP) to obtain the latest information with regards to what vaccines are recommended about 4-8 weeks prior to departing for Singapore. Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip. The following vaccinations are recommended: measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, polio and influenza.
Singapore has risk of Dengue with peak transmission during the rainy season from September to February.
Singapore has risk of ongoing Chikungunya and Zika virus transmission. Travellers should take meticulous anti-mosquito bite measures during the daytime. Pregnant women and those considering becoming pregnant should avoid travel to the country.
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers coming from a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission.
Sporadic cases of Japanese Encephalitis have been reported in Singapore, and transmission occurs all year.
Typhoid fever vaccination is recommended when going outside the areas usually visited by tourists such as traveling extensively in the interior of the country, for persons on working assignments in remote areas, or travellers visiting for extended periods of time.
Tap water is safe to drink in Singapore.
Singapore’s medical facilities are modern and well-equipped, with English widely spoken. The general cost of medical provision is high.
The city’s many pharmacies can supply a wide variety of forms of medication, including many well-known brands, and are usually open from 0930 to 1900, Monday to Saturday.
A visit to a doctor will cost around S$25. Many clinics are located in the major shopping centres. Immediate payment is expected.
Pass
The Singaporean authorities require passports to be valid for at least six months beyond the expected departure date from Singapore. This requirement also applies to transit passengers. All visitors must have onward or return tickets and have sufficient funds to stay in Singapore.
Visum
Citizens of the following countries require visas to enter Singapore: Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, China, Egypt, Georgia, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, Myanmar, Pakistan, Palestinian Authority, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Yemen.
For other countries:
Tourist Visa: Not required for EU citizens and citizens of Norway, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and US for stays of up to 90 days.
Business Visa: Not required for EU citizens and citizens of Norway, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, and US for stays of up to 90 days.
Student Visa: A Student’s Pass is required for all foreigners embarking on a course of study at a university in Singapore.
